Privacy Policy
What this site collects, who it shares data with, and how to opt out.
This site is run by one person in San Diego. It has no accounts, no logins and no newsletter, so there is nothing here for you to sign up to and no database of visitors.
What follows covers the three things that do collect data: visitor analytics, advertising, and affiliate links.
Last updated September 2026.
Analytics
Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It records the page requested, the referring site, and general details about the browser, device and country. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your browser, and does not build a profile of you across sites or visits. There is no way for anyone, including me, to identify an individual visitor from it.
The numbers are used for one thing: seeing which pages people actually read.
Cloudflare’s own privacy policy covers how they handle the data: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Advertising
This site may display ads served by Google AdSense. When ads run, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technology to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this and other sites.
You can turn off personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors that use cookies at aboutads.info/choices. Blocking cookies in your browser works too.
Google’s practices are described in their advertising privacy notice.
Affiliate links
The equipment page links to products on Amazon. Those links carry a tag that tells Amazon the visit came from here, and this site earns a commission if you buy something. It costs you nothing extra and does not change which gear is listed. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Once you click through, Amazon’s own privacy policy applies, not this one.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the requests needed to serve pages, including IP addresses, and keeps short-term security and abuse logs. I don’t have access to raw server logs.
External links and data sources
Conditions data comes from the National Weather Service, NOAA and Open-Meteo. Pages link out to tournament organisers, leagues and local businesses. Those sites set their own rules and this policy does not cover them.
Children
This site is a guide to a public beach. It isn’t directed at children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect anything from them.
Your choices
- Ad blockers and privacy browsers work fine here. Nothing on the site requires you to accept tracking to read it.
- California residents: the CCPA gives you rights to know about and delete personal information collected about you. This site holds none that can be tied to you, but if you think otherwise, write to me and I will check.
- EU and UK visitors: the legal basis for the analytics described above is legitimate interest in understanding which pages are used, with no personal data stored.
Changes
Any changes appear on this page with the date above updated. There is no mailing list to notify.
