Ocean Beach Events
The Farmers Market, Street Fair and Holiday Parade in Ocean Beach, all within walking distance of the volleyball courts.
Newport Avenue is a couple of blocks from the sand, so most of what happens in Ocean Beach happens within walking distance of the courts. Parking gets much harder on all three of these days.
OB Farmers Market
Every Wednesday afternoon, rain or shine, Newport Avenue closes to traffic between Cable and Bacon. Produce, prepared food, crafts and street musicians.
It runs 4pm to 8pm, so an afternoon at the courts and dinner at the market works without moving the car.
OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off
An all-day street festival along Newport Avenue with live music, food stalls and the chili competition it is named after. Entry is free.
The next one is Saturday 26 June 2027. Expect Newport Avenue to be closed and street parking to be gone by mid-morning.
OB Holiday Parade
The Ocean Beach Town Council runs a holiday parade down Newport Avenue in early December — floats, marching bands and lit-up cars, held in the evening.
Dates and the route are announced each year on Facebook. The Town Council’s own holiday page is not currently a reliable source, so the link above goes to a Facebook event search instead.
Getting around on event days
Newport Avenue closes for the Street Fair and the parade, and partially for the market. The beach lots fill early. See directions and parking for the alternatives.
